I always think about the Chrissy Teigen post-giving-birth tweets where she was like, why did no one tell me I was going to go home wearing a diaper? because there are so many things like this in publishing. You don't know until it's too late and it's already happening to you. It feels like the teaching MO is trial by fire so you will necessarily rack up a hearty number of Ls no matter how fastidious and micromanage-y you are. At least I can make content out of all the failures
